Strathalbyn Water Resources

Strathalbyn, South Australia

Through BEENGS specialised water resource team, we have designed an effective water service system for an overall 123 residential allotments. The Strathalbyn residential water services project included the designs of stormwater, sewerage, and water supply systems with the addition of water sensitive urban designs throughout the area.

DRAINS software was utilised to analyse the prepared flow routes. The program measures stormwater flow in both minor and major storm events, and thus allows our team to design the system in compliance with AS3500.3. The sewerage system was designed to the WSA codes, considering elevation points of each allotment (slopes), size of allotments, amount of wastewater generated by each allotment and seasonal effects on the flow of wastewater.

The water supply network was designed based on the EPANET (simulation model). Our network designed was maintained a minimum capacity/demand to provide water to residential properties, commercial establishments, public water systems including in the case of fire emergencies (including fire hydrant designs) at acceptable pressure levels.

We significantly value innovation and sustainability and have implemented various Water Sensitive Urban Design in which not only are aesthetically pleasing but operate for its intended purpose – saving water. The designed produced are permeable pavement (infiltration systems), bioretention systems, and swales
