UniSA MM Building

Mawson Lakes Blvd, South Australia

MM Building is the University of South Australia Mawson Lake's campus landmark. The building promotes constant knowledge transfer with a range of spaces where a diverse group of industry representatives, researchers and students come together. The 5-floor building consists of offices, open space rooms, computer pools, cafe and laboratories occupying 7,300 msq of floor area.  The overall project budget $42.7 MIL and has been awarded 5 Star Rating for sustainability.

BEENGS structural department had designed multi-storey precast walls, slabs and beams. Other materials such as timber battens were designed to reduce the overall heat penetration towards the dining area. Informal study spaces were experimented with recycled plastics by designing a constant finish from wall to flooring, all promoting sustainability.

Additionally, around the building is abundant of water sensitive urban designing elements including permeable pavements, bioswales and vegetated filtration zones. The collected water transitions to treatment and reuse. We view this project as a design that completely embodies our motto.

Fun fact: BEENGS office is located here!
